Uncomfortable? It might mean you’re doing something big.

Over the weekend, I completed a 70.3 triathlon after not having done one for six years. It was tough, cold (and then hot), and it was long. And at times, definitely uncomfortable.

And it was exactly what I needed. I’m four weeks out from Ironman Austria which has been on my calendar (and in my mind) for almost a year now. This 70.3 was a stepping stone. Not a comfort zone.

It reminded me what it feels like to push through the hard parts, and to keep going when it stops being fun. To get closer to a goal, not through magic or motivation, but through effort.

Nothing big comes easy.
Discomfort isn’t a sign to stop — it’s usually the evidence that you’re growing.

We talk a lot about goals, dreams, and change. But rarely do we talk about the part where you show up on race day (whatever “race day” is for you personally) with a nervous stomach and a mind full of doubts, and do it anyway.

Whether your “Ironman” is launching something new, leaving something old, or just trusting yourself enough to try, please remember this:

You don’t have to love every moment of the process. But you do have to be willing to stay in it, even when it’s uncomfortable.

That’s where transformation happens.

I’m with you in the brave stuff,

Beth
